Blue Seal of Excellence
The City of El Paso Fleet Services Department has earned the Blue Seal of Excellence as prescribed by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). In Texas, only 94 dealerships, private repair facilities, fleet repair shops or government fleets have earned this certification. The only repair shop in El Paso to have earned this certification is the City of El Paso Fleet Services Division. To be eligible for this recognition, a company must have at least 75% of its automotive professionals ASE certified. In addition, there must be a certified technician in each area of service offered. To remain in the program, a business must renew each year and confirm their professionalís certification status. The certifications require each technician to pass a series of rigorous tests which stress technical knowledge and diagnostic capabilities. Each technician must also recertify every five years. This ensures all professional technicians remain current in the ever changing environment of automotive technology.
The Cityís Fleet Services Division maintains approximately 2,200 City vehicles including those of Police, Parks, Streets, Fire, Environmental, Health, Library, Zoo and others. The Division has 65 dedicated technicians, parts professionals and service consultants to keep the Cityís fleet on the road 24 hours-a-day, 365 days a year.
Having professional technicians on staff enables the City to respond to any circumstance. The community can be assured when they require a City service that the vehicle and equipment is safe, reliable and well maintained. The ability of the technicians to repair a vehicle correctly the first time ensures the City is getting the maximum value out of the money spent on the vehicle fleet.
The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence is a non-profit organization based in Leesburg, Virginia dedicated to improving the quality of vehicle repair and service by means of voluntary testing and certification for automotive repair and service professionals. As a result, consumers now have a way to distinguish professional, knowledgeable and competent mechanics.
