Animal Services Adjusted Hours Better Serve Community
As part of a continuing effort to improve services to the community, the Department of Public Health’s Animal Services program has expanded its hours of service effective April 2008.
“These hours have been changed to allow Animal Services staff sufficient time to attend to the specific needs of the animals in our care at the shelter,” says Ray Sim, Deputy Director of Animal Services. “We must feed and treat the animals and clean the facilities prior to accepting new animals or assisting the public at the facility.”
Animal Control Officers are now available to assist the public daily from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. In addition, emergency services (injured animals and public safety issues, issues such as capturing biting, vicious, and diseased animals) are available after-hours between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.
Animal Services is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.,
and is closed on Sunday. The Customer Relations Clerks taking calls in the Dispatch Center are still available to help the public from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Adoption hours are Monday and Wednesday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. No adoptions are available on Sundays or Tuesdays. Cat traps are available on Mondays starting at 10:30 a.m. on a first come first served basis and must be returned by Friday before 6:00 p.m.
The address for Animal Services is 5001 Fred Wilson Road, El Paso, Texas 79906.
