The City of El Paso's Department of Community and Human Development's Retired and Senior Volunteer Program

The City of El Paso's Department of Community and Human Development's Retired and Senior Volunteer ProgramThe Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is in its 33rd year. We have over 1500 volunteers providing services and giving of their time at over 110 volunteer locations in the 60-mile wide service area (from Canutillo to Fabens). To date, volunteers have contributed 8,346,233 service hours. Calculated at minimum wage, RSVP volunteers can be credited with donating $45.9 million.

Both retired and working people, 55 years of age and older, are eligible to become part of this national movement of volunteers, diverse in experience, interest, income and education - ready to take on the challenges facing this country. They are placed on assignments that match their individual interests and abilities.

There are no educational or other requirements to be a RSVP volunteer. Our purpose is to provide enrichment for older adults through significant community service work. It encourages seniors to bring a lifetime of talent, experience, skills and hobbies to community projects and organizations needing volunteer talent. El Paso's RSVP program has shown outstanding growth as more seniors become aware of the multitude of opportunities for community service and experience the personal fulfillment of voluntarism. The City of El Paso has many volunteers to recognize and thank for the incredible support received.
