Comprehensive Parks Master Plan in Development
The City of El Paso Parks and Recreation Department is currently mapping out a guide for the future with a Comprehensive Parks Master Plan. This is a 10-year plan that will guide the future acquisition and use of parklands, the development of parks in the future, review policies on a department-wide basis, guide programming throughout the department, review and modernize basic operations within all areas of the department, identify practices (especially irrigation and land management) to gain efficiency within the department, and facilitate the pursuit of grants and other funding from both public and private sources.
The Master Plan will recommend governance adjustments to improve the delivery of services and will explore potential sources of additional revenue to support the programs and facilities that are provided to the citizens of El Paso. Most importantly, the plan will actively seek the opinions of the citizens of El Paso to ensure that the needs of the community at large are understood and that strategies to address those needs as much as possible are developed.
