New Day Pass Launched By Sun Metro
Sun Metro launched its new DAY PASS on all Fixed Routes effective March 19, 2006. The DAY PASS is the new low-cost way to get around town. For only $2.00 passengers can use the Sun Metro fixed route bus system any time, any direction or from any bus stop all day for one low price.
This pass is a replacement option to "Transfers," allowing passengers more freedom to travel. "Transfers" were eliminated on all Sun Metro fixed routes effective March 19, 2006. Transfers are currently sold for $0.10 each.
"We have implemented the DAY PASS and eliminated transfers to make the Mass Transit system more convenient and economical for users," said Terry Lee Scott, Sun Metro General Manager. "Passengers will no longer have to hassle with transfers that are time and travel option sensitive. The DAY PASS will give everyone the option to sit back and enjoy the ride all day with unlimited rides and transfers included."
The DAY PASS can be purchased from any Sun Metro driver or at one of the Sun Metro Ticket Offices. They can even be purchased in multiple quantities at a time.
The DAY PASS must be purchased or presented upon boarding the first bus for the day. It will be validated and ready for use all day. When transferring to or boarding any other bus during that day, passengers will only need to show the validated pass.
The DAY PASS will be accepted by Sunland, Park, New Mexico and El Paso County services on outbound trips only. This will be a one-time transfer. Additional bus changes and return trips will require full payment. The DAY PASS will not be sold by either Sunland Park, New Mexico or El Paso County Services.
