Siglo De Oro Festival Begins its XXXII Season

The MCAD, in partnership with the Chamizal National Memorial announces the XXXII season of the Siglo de Oro Festival, the longest running festival of its kind in the world. The festival will run for five consecutive days from February 28 to March 4 at the Chamizal National Memorial.

The Siglo De Oro Festival brings together theater companies from all over the world for free performances from the classics of Spanish literature. This year features groups from the United States, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Spain.

Plays presented this year include: El Narciso en su opinión from Guillén de Castro y Bellvis by Brigham Young University; La Villana de Vallecas by Tirso de Molina presented by Teatro Rodante Universitario of San Juan Puerto Rico; No hay burlas con el amor by Pedro Calderón de la Barca from Escuela Superior de Arte Dramatico, Murcia, Spain; Risas aquí y después...ganancia! by Lope de Vega from Grupo La Hormiga-Lerma-Burgos, Spain; and La cueva de Salamanca by Juan Ruiz de Alarcón presented by Universidad de Veracruz.
