The Foster Grandparent Program held its 26th Annual Recognition Banquet this past December at the Wyndham Hotel. Over 160 Foster Grandparents were recognized for their volunteer efforts in assisting children with special and exceptional needs in the City and County of El Paso. The Foster Grandparents were recognized for providing over 126,000 volunteer service hours to over 300 children during the past year. There were over 100 guests in attendance that represented the volunteer stations, as well as family members that came to support their Foster Grandparent.

170 third grade students from Jane Hambric Elementary School, in the Socorro Independent School District, sang Christmas Carols, in English and Spanish, to the Grandparents. Additional entertainment was also provided by the El Paso Senior Temptations. Afterwards, the Foster Grandparent Volunteers and their guests were treated to dance music by Vanzat Discotech. A wonderful time was had by all. We congratulate our wonderful Foster Grandparents for all their good works and for all they do for the children of El Paso.
