City Accepting Pre-Qualification Applications for Engineering and Architect Firms
On December 13, 2005 City Council deleted the ordinance governing selection procedures for architects, engineers and land surveyors. New procedures have been established by the City Council and City Manager. Engineering Department is currently accepting pre-qualification applications from Engineering and Architect firms. The new procedures require A/E firms interested in performing work on City projects to submit applications for pre-qualification. Firms pre-qualified before December 2005 must submit prequalification applications again under the new procedures.
The new procedures require a more in-depth prequalification process, however, they streamline the City's ability to select consultants for City projects. The Engineering Department strongly encourages all firms interested in procuring City design services to submit a prequalification package. Although there is no deadline for submittal, and packages will be continue to be accepted, the Engineering Department cannot consider firms for potential design projects until the firm has been pre-qualified. The Engineering Department will contact firms in writing to advise of their pre-qualification status. For additional information, firms may contact Mr. Javier Reyes, Engineering Program Division Manager at 541-4630 or Mr. J.L. Vela at 541-4585.
