Role of the Empowerment Zone Advisory Board The Empowerment Zone Advisory Board was created by the El Paso City Council to serve as a liaison with the community-at-large and to provide recommendations to the Mayor, City Council, City Manager and City personnel regarding the new Empowerment Zone Strategic Plan and Implementation Plan for 2008 - 2009. The Board presently consists of:

5 owners/employees of a for-profit business that is located in the Zone
2 individual leaders in a non-profit organization or faith-based organization located in the Zone
2 individual members of a City Recognized Neighborhood Association within the Zone
The advisory board meetings are open to the public and will be held at different sites throughout the zone.
