PREPARE YOUR GAME DAY VISIT TO DOWNTOWN

The City of El Paso Department of Transportation (EPDOT) has teamed up with Sun Metro and the El Paso Chihuahuas to create a game day traffic plan to minimize delays while safely and efficiently moving traffic around Southwest University Park.

Expect Delays And Heavy Traffic. Arrive Early!

The traffic plan for opening day includes Park+Ride services from Sun Metro, special traffic signal timings, and police officers staffing intersections before and after games to help keep pedestrian and vehicular traffic moving safely.

Traffic in the area will be mostly congested at the start and end of games as pedestrians, bicyclists, bus riders, and drivers simultaneously make their way around the ballpark area.

The gates at Southwest University Park will open at 6 p.m. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The public is encouraged to take advantage of the gates opening early and arrive downtown at least an hour before the game starts to avoid traffic congestion.

Plan Your Route

Minimize your traffic delays by planning your route in and out of the downtown area in advance of your visit.

Parking Sites/Road Closures/ADA Drop-off Zone

There are several parking garages, lots and metered parking spots throughout Downtown. To make your trip as enjoyable as possible familiarize yourself with parking options and downtown road closures. The City of El Paso also has an ADA drop-off location near Southwest University Park for use by the general public. Southwest University Park has two ADA entrances into the ballpark; one near Santa Fe and Franklin and the other at Durango and W. Franklin.

Road Closures

  • Sheldon between Santa Fe and El Paso
  • Main between El Paso and Oregon
  • Oregon between Main and Mills
  • Mills between Oregon and Mesa

Park+Ride With Sun Metro

Sun Metro's Park+Ride services will be available from five convenient locations throughout the community for Opening Day and home games on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Parking is free at the Park+Ride locations and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The round-trip fare is $3. Children 5 and under ride for free and must be accompanied by an adult. Passengers are reminded to have exact change for the farebox.

The drop-off sites for Park+Ride routes will be located near the Missouri and Oregon intersection, east of the ballpark. Shuttles will pick up fans at the same drop-off locations.

There will be two return trips: the first return trip will depart at the end of the 7th inning; and the final trip will depart 30 minutes after the game has ended. Departure times start 90 minutes before the game. Some sites will only have one departure time. Please check the game time in order to determine your departure time.
