Border Canvas
Christos on the Border aims to attract international attention to El Paso with a public art project by Christos and Jeanne-Claude. The artists’ most recent project, The Gates, in Central Park brought international attention to public art in New York City with an economic impact of $254 million to the city. Christos on the Border or a similar project utilizing area artists would showcase El Paso’s rich artistic heritage while imparting civic pride to all residents and encouraging young artists to stay in El Paso. “It’s a good opportunity to showcase who we are, develop jobs and instill a sense of pride in El Paso,” says Stephen Ingle, Group Champion.
