Community Arts Program (CAP)
Think outside the box! The City of El Paso Museums and Cultural Affairs Department (MCAD) oversees the Community Arts Program, bringing visual and performing artists into El Paso classrooms and community spaces for free. The interests and knowledge of your students will be engaged with a session selected from a diverse roster of programs. Let a theatrical troupe help bring Shakespeare alive for your students or explore the world of Latin American song with professional musicians, Spanish Dance, Jazz groups, writing workshops and much more.
To learn more about the program, receive a roster of services and to find out how to be a community host, email Socorro Q. Diamondstein at firstname.lastname@example.org or call at 541 4167.
Hosting a CAP service in your school or facility
CAP services are provided free of charge to provide access to the arts for both students and El Pasoans of all ages. MCAD works with eligible community hosts to spread services throughout El Paso, with emphasis placed on underserved areas or audiences whenever possible.
MCAD determines an organization’s eligibility to receive these services based on approved guidelines. Some common characteristics of an eligible host are as follows:

- Must be located within the City of El Paso
- Must allow the teaching artist to use the space for free and cannot charge a fee for participants to enjoy the program.
- Places of worship can serve as a community host if the CAP service will not be part of a religious service/ceremony and will be open to the public
