This exhibit is showing from 8 March through 17 May 2008.
15 Second Annual Franklin Mountains Poppy Festival
10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Free music and shaded areas will be provided. There will be Tequila tasting after 3:00 p.m., food and craft vendors, and area organizations with environmental themes will provide educational programs, entertainment, and more.

Behind Closed Doors: Tours of the Museum's Storage Room.

Curator Jason Jurgena will lead small groups through the collections storage areas.

3 Holy Mole!
2:00 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Join us for this event and start celebrating Cinco de Mayo early with enchiladas enmoladas (cheese enchiladas in mole sauce), a presentation on the Battle of Puebla (home of mole poblano) and the history of chocolate in the Americas, as well as Mexican music and dance. Enchilada plates (with beans and rice) are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for Children.
17 Basket Making Workshop: How to Make Decorative Containers from Natural Fibers
1:00 p.m. – 5 p.m.
With basket maker and weaver Melissa Urquidi-Bonham, learn how to select, gather, prepare and weave natural fibers in the traditional ways of the ancients. For children and adults alike.
Have fun weaving and shaping a classic garlic basket using round reed. Class fee includes materials to complete two baskets and you’ll complete one ore more during the half day class.
Students should bring: spray bottle, old towel, and scissors

Cost: $30

Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m. - noon.
Fun for children: 1st through 7th Grades. Activities include: pedestrian survey, artifact analysis, excavation techniques, and a field trip to Hueco Tanks State Historic Site.

16 Pottery Making Workshop
Several local potters will teach children how to manufacture, decorate, and fire pottery vessels in a kitchen oven. For children ages 8 to 15.
